The Present and Future of THERANOSTICS.

There is a growing worldwide interest in the detection and targeted treatment of cancer with radiotheranostics as part of precision medicine. This article reviews some of the developments in theranostics, namely, approved radiopharmaceuticals, agents in late-stage clinical trials, emerging radionuclides and targets, as well as operational and regulatory challenges. Other areas of development include use of novel ligands, new indications, and combinations with other systemic therapies. We aim to provide an overview of radiopharmaceutical therapies in use and in clinical development and consider some of the challenges in East and Southeast Asia, including an innovative yet highly regulated environment in Singapore.
