Posterior Arthroscopic Talar Body Nonunion Repair With Subtalar Arthrodesis

Abstract Talus fractures are a rare and challenging problem for the orthopaedic surgeon. They often present following high‐speed injury mechanisms in patients with polytraumatic injuries. Diagnosis and treatment of these fractures may be delayed, at times leading to talus nonunion or malunion. In cases of talar body nonunion with intra‐articular involvement, but with preserved talar morphology, nonunion repair may be indicated. Historically, this has been addressed with open repair, necessitating medial malleolus osteotomy for fracture exposure, debridement, reduction, and fixation. In this technique article, we describe a minimally invasive arthroscopic technique for this challenging problem.
