En los últimos años, tanto el conocimiento de los trastornos del crecimiento como el enfoque de las directrices para el uso de la hormona de crecimiento humana recombinante (HChr) han evolucionado de manera significativa. El abordaje diagnóstico de estos trastornos requiere una evaluación física exhaustiva y sistemática, cuyos hallazgos deben integrarse con los de estudios paraclínicos y genéticos, cuando estén indicados. Esto permitirá lograr un diagnóstico preciso e identificar aquellas condiciones que pueden beneficiarse del uso de HChr. El presente documento es el resultado del trabajo realizado por el Grupo de Interés sobre Crecimiento, así como otros miembros de la Sociedad Mexicana de Endocrinología Pediátrica, con el objetivo principal de señalar los criterios clínicos y paraclínicos de distintas entidades en las que puede estar indicado el uso de HChr.
