Coinfection of Malaria, Parvovirus, Epstein-Barr Virus, Respiratory Syncytial Virus, and Lyme Disease in a Returning Traveller: A Case Report

We report the case of a 36-year-old woman presenting with fever, jaundice, and haemolysis after recent travel to Ghana. She was ultimately diagnosed with concurrent infections:(), parvovirus B19, Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and(Lyme disease). Her course was complicated by profound haemolysis, acute kidney injury, and persistent fever despite antimalarial therapy. This case highlights the diagnostic and therapeutic challenges of polymicrobial infections in returning travellers, the overlapping mechanisms of haemolysis, and the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to care.
